Thermo-insulating mono-blocks for energy efficient buildings

We are in the province of Varese, in a villa under construction with a view of the lake of the same name. Designed by Studiodue, this is a low-energy house created according to strict environmental sustainability criteria. It is no coincidence that wood was used as a structural material: it features low environmental impact and high heat storage capacity, and adds value to the building.

All external openings are equipped with Pronema extruded polystyrene XPS thermo-insulating mono-blocks, supplied by CLAPS Serramenti snc. They provide a more efficient alternative to traditional subframes, with some advantages that help the building achieve a higher energy class as they:

  • Solve thermal bridges
  • Facilitate the installation of windows and doors
  • Prevent condensation and mould from forming
  • Reduce energy costs
  • Distribute heat evenly and provide greater comfort
  • Improve acoustic comfort

The module used here is placed on the four sides of the window with two side reveals, an upper box arranged for sun blinds or shutter and sill insulation.
